Finding your way in a challenging world

Life brings many challenges and difficult circumstances. At times we feel equipped to cope with these alone or with friends and family support. At other times we do not feel we can talk openly to friends or family about what we are experiencing or they do not know how to help us. You might sometimes feel judged by how others seem to view your problems.

Counselling is a space where you can speak openly without being judged and can come to understand yourself with some insight and compassion, as well as realise that your problems are often not unique but are shared by others who have learnt ways to navigate similar challenges.

You do not need to struggle on alone, but can seek support that can set you back on the right course for you and give you new skills you can bring into your future.

About Lucy Dorey, BSc, MEd, PhD.
she/her

I'm a BACP-accredited counsellor with extensive experience working with adults experiencing a range of psychological difficulties. Alongside counselling, I'm involved in training and supervision for professionals and related research.

My professional training includes Humanistic Counselling, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Psychosynthesis Counselling and Mindfulness Teacher Training. I have experience supporting people with difficulties including anxiety, low mood, chronic health problems,  substance use, eating difficulties, grief, abuse,  strong self-criticism, inter-personal difficulties, as well as diagnosed mental health conditions.

I aim to create a space that is safe and non-judgmental, where we can explore both the difficulties you're experiencing as well as the aspects of your life that matter most to you and how to live fully in line with what you value.
